Enabling Language-Based Search Results

AddSearch’s automatic language detection lets you filter search results by the language of the search page. When enabled, users see only search results matching the page’s language. This is useful for websites with content in multiple languages.

How to Enable Automatic Language Detection

  1. Open the Search Designer.

  2. Select your search setup: either Widget or Separate results page.

  3. Go to the Advanced tab to access advanced settings.

  4. Enable Filter results by language by checking its box.

  5. Click Apply changes to save the setting.

Deploy the Updated Search Script

  1. Click the Installation script button in Search Designer.
  2. Copy the updated script using the Copy script button.
  3. Paste the script into your website’s theme or template files to apply the changes.

Enabling or disabling this option takes effect immediately and does not require re-crawling your website.

Important Considerations

  • AddSearch detects language based on the HTML language tags and metadata in your web pages.
  • To filter results correctly, you must also specify the language of your search pages.
